C.S.CARGO will use a new Volvo fleet
C.S.CARGO will use a new Volvo fleet to serve Plzeňský Prazdroj in the next three years.
Prague, 1 July 2013 – C.S.CARGO has received 20 brand-new vehicles from Volvo Trucks. The rigs will be used to secure primary distribution of the most popular beer brands of the Plzeňský Prazdroj, a.s. – Pilsner Urquell, Gambrinus, Radegast, and Velkopovický kozel.
For the C.S.CARGO Group, the Central European number one in logistics and transport segment, the purchase of 20 Volvo trucks is an investment that will strengthen the company's fleet in the Czech Republic. The new vehicles have been purchased following C.S.CARGO's recent success in a tender to provide transport services to the Plzeňský Prazdroj, a.s. brewery during the next three years and beyond. A specific requirement for the tender was the availability of vehicles with a load-carrying capacity of 31 tons and a cargo area capable of transporting 38 Euro-pallets. C.S.CARGO is the only carrier on the Czech market operating a sufficiently large fleet of vehicles that meet these specific parameters. Their high performance in the heavy-load segment as well as low fuel consumption and high average speeds were among the most important reasons why C.S.CARGO chose Volvo trucks for its transport operations.
C.S.CARGO's Managing Director Aleš Willert comments on the firm's partnership with Plzeňský Prazdroj: "We have been working together with Plzeňský Prazdroj since as early as 2005. Our success in the recent tender has allowed us to invest into an expansion of our fleet. All the new vehicles will be put into service in the next few days. We are confident that our partnership with Plzeňský Prazdroj will continue to develop as favorably as it has up until now."
According to C.S.CARGO's Managing Director, Volvo trucks with Schmitz Cargobull trailers were chosen because they are a perfect match for the specifics of the contract, which will mainly consist of securing primary distribution of Plzeňský Prazdroj's products between production plants and distribution centers.
"Some of the key issues we consider in selecting vehicles that deliver our products are cost efficiency and environmental friendliness. We chose C.S.CARGO because it offered to provide primary distribution services, which consist of transporting products from breweries to distribution warehouses, using new vehicles that have a larger cargo area, are capable of carrying as many as 38 pallets, meet the EURO 5 emission standard, and feature lower fuel consumption in relation to the amount of cargo they carry. Thanks to that, traveling distance, fuel consumption rate, and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by roughly 10%. Apart from water and energy savings, these factors are an important aspect of our sustainable development strategy," says Plzeňský Prazdroj's Head of Corporate Relations and Communication Drahomíra Mandíková.
Aleš Willert adds: "Besides the quality of our fleet, we were able to meet the client's requirements for a sophisticated online solution for the management orders, self-billing, and payments. Our advanced online system also allows Plzeňský Prazdroj to monitor the whereabouts of C.S.CARGO vehicles and optimize the planning of the loading and unloading of goods."
The vehicles selected to serve Plzeňský Prazdroj are large-capacity FH 13 500 HP 6x2 RIGID Low Volvo rigs that feature a total load-carrying capacity of 48 tons, a 500 HP engine that meets the Euro 5 EEV emission limits, an I-Shift automatic 12-speed transmission, and a Globetrotter cabin. Another feature is the Dynafleet software designed to monitor the cost efficiency of operation. Schmitz Cargobull boxes and tri-axle trailers are TÜV-certified and thanks to being fitted with state-of-the-art technologies meet the requirements of the Euro cargo securing directive (code XL) for the transport of beverages.
