“Every nation has its heroes. We will not forget”. For the republic’s centennial, C.S.CARGO is presenting the stories of heroes and heroines of the past century in cooperation with Memory of Nations
Prague, 24 October 2018 – In cooperation with Memory of Nations, C.S.CARGO has prepared a special project commemorating the 100th anniversary of the republic. In connection with the initials C.S. in the company’s name symbolising Czechoslavia, C.S.Cargo wants to celebrate the centennial in an original way, by giving ten of its trucks the names of ten heroes of the past century. It thus wants to expand everyday awareness of the actions of well-known and completely unknown people whose courage and steadfastness can serve as an example for everyone in every era. After all, the history of our nation is not formed only by people on a pedestal, but by each of us.
“We live in the best time that Czechs and Slovaks have ever experienced. We are grateful for that to all of the heroes, both the famous and the thousands of lesser known individuals. The ten names on our trucks will perhaps help a little to remind our contemporaries of why we are grateful to them,” says Jan Blaško, chairman of the supervisory board and shareholder of C.S.CARGO.
The trailer of each truck features the name of a hero or heroine together with a brief description and the text “Every nation has its heroes. We will not forget”. People can then read their stories on the C.S.CARGO and Memory of Nations websites.
“We liked the parallel of the lives of common people who became heroes with a memorial to them in ordinary life on a truck trailer and we welcomed the idea. People will easily take notice of the different-looking trucks and will perhaps recall for a moment the history of our country also from the perspective of those who risked their lives so that the nation could have a better future,” says Jan Polouček, operations manager of Post Bellum o.p.s., commenting on the project on behalf of Memory of Nations.
Memory of Nations is the most expansive publicly accessible commemorative database in Europe, which the Post Bellum non-profit organisation is building and administrating in cooperation with the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and Czech Radio.
