C.S.CARGO and the Forman Brothers' Theater collaborate
C.S.CARGO and the Forman Brothers' Theater collaborate to bring travelling Freak Show to the Karlovy Vary Film Festival - on a Truck.
Prague, 23 April 2013 - C.S.CARGO Group, a premier provider of transport and logistics services in the Central European market, is continuing its collaboration with the Forman Brothers' Theater and their cabaret project 'Obludárium' (Freak Show). The Forman Brothers' Theater and their Obludárium will make an appearance at the 48th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival at the end of June, and team up with C.S.CARGO to give altogether four performances.
Back in 2010, C.S.CARGO Group, who actively support the artistic endeavors of the Forman Brothers, donated a truck to the troupe, specially retrofitted to accommodate the transport of a travelling theater tent. The 'Obludárium' show has since had more than 460 performances, primarily in the countries of Western Europe (including France, Spain, Belgium, Italy), but also the countries of Northern Europe or e.g. Israel.
From 28 June through 1 July 2013, the Forman Brothers' Theater will give three public performances, as well as one performance reserved for business partners of C.S.CARGO Group and a EUROCLINICUM Group. These performances will be part of the festival's official accompanying program.
Petr Forman, the director of the show, comments on their participation in the film festival: "It is a huge honor for us to be able to contribute to the Karlovy Vary Film Festival with our 'Obludárium'. In the same vein, we feel very privileged to have this partnership with C.S.CARGO, and to be able to travel the world in our special theater truck, which is truly one of a kind - to be honest with you, we are a little boastful of it". He adds: "I believe that incorporating our show in the official accompanying program will bring a breath of fresh air to the routine screenings across the city's movie theaters. In today's cinema halls, films are delivered to the audience through perfect technology - we watch them in perfect definition, possibly in 3D, and of course, it knocks you out. Meanwhile, however, in our tent, the audience becomes a part of the theatrical world, mindful of every scent, movement, quiver ... and that simply pulls them into the performance as it unfolds. This is precisely what I perceive to be the irreplaceable power of theater. Not everyone makes use of it, but to me and my brother, it is fundamental. It is one of the reasons why we travel with our own stage on our backs, so to speak."
Jan Blaško, Chairman of the Board of C.S.CARGO a.s., has this to say with respect to the collaboration with the Forman Brothers' Theater: "It may at first seem non-traditional that a logistics company joins forces with a theater project - but the opposite is the case. Our trucks crisscross the European continent on a daily basis, and I dare say they are capable of hauling almost everything imaginable - a travelling theater tent included. We put great store in our collaboration with the Forman Brothers' Theater, and I must say that the 'Obludárium' truck alone, with its artistic design, is a source of great pride to us."

C.S.CARGO Group and the Forman Brothers' Theater
C.S.CARGO Group has been supporting the artistic work of the Forman Brothers as a part of its CSR efforts. Back in 2010 already, the theater received a gift from us, in the form of a special-purpose truck that would come to house and transport a mobile theater tent for the 'Obludárium' cabaret project. The theater has travelled across Europe in it, racking up mileage of more than 33,000 km. 'Obludárium' was conceived with the material support and assistance of Theatre National de Bretagne, France, and has seen 462 performances, primarily in Western Europe (France, Spain, Belgium, Italy), Scandinavia and in Israel.
C.S.CARGO Group
Through its affiliates, C.S.CARGO is pursuing business in four CEE countries (the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Germany) and Russia. It is among the leading Central European providers of transport services by road, air, and sea, and of complex logistics services. The customer portfolio of the group reads like a Who's Who of various industries (among them the automotive and food and beverage industries, the construction business, and electrical engineering). Today, the group employs a workforce of more than 2,200 people, among them a staff of 1,200 in the Czech Republic.
The 'Obludárium' of the Forman Brothers' Theater
'Obludárium' (Freak Show) is a performance by the Forman Brothers' Theater based on a loose series of extremely diverse acts, artistically and theatrically impressive snapshots and miniature tales which are held together by an overarching theme, by sharing the atmosphere of a cabaret show, and by the fact that they all play out in a non-traditional venue. They fuse different planes, which is attractive to us as it offers the freedom to walk the fine line between a "decadent genre" and "theatrical art" (in the high-brow sense of the word). 'Obludárium' is an expression of our desire to take inspiration from everything that confronts our tabloid culture on stage - but above all from FUN. Fun of the most coarse-grained variety, perhaps, but still firmly planted in unabashed fondness and respect for all things simple, human, and earthbound. And wondrous excitement in the face of phenomena and events which cannot be fathomed by reason, and which tickle our senses by their mysteriousness.
